From Richard Ouzounian at the Toronto Star:
"Call it Sex and the City, but make the city Stratford, Ont.
"The Toronto Star has learned that sexy lady Kim Cattrall – whose Sex and the City movie opens in North America on May 30 – has been entertaining discussions with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival to appear there next season in Antony and Cleopatra.
"She kept mentioning the role to a group of journalists recently, but when the Star's Linda Barnard inquired whether she might be doing it at Stratford, Canadian-raised Cattrall became positively sphinx-like and just twisted the coiled serpent ring she was wearing.
"All of this makes sense, because Cattrall was seen being squired around Stratford last summer and was reportedly offered the role of Katherine in this year's production of The Taming of the Shrew.
"So what's the magic thread that links the man-eating Samantha Jones with our provincial temple of theatre?
"One need look no further than a recent Stratford press release where artistic director Des McAnuff writes of having worked with the Goodman Theatre's Robert Falls on a co-production that Falls directed in co-operation with McAnuff's La Jolla Playhouse.
"The show? The Misanthrope. The star? Kim Cattrall.
"Resumés are now being accepted for the asp. I understand that younger vipers only need apply."
