Medea is "Euripides' great drama of romantic obsession, the most searing of Greek tragedies, tells the tale of the princess Medea. For the love of Jason, an ambitious adventurer, she has betrayed her father and her people, murdered her own brother and gone into lonely exile in an alien land. Now, casually dismissed by the arrogant man for whom she has given her life, she plans a terrible revenge."
This Mirvish co-production, directed by Miles Potter, will reach Toronto audiences January 9, 2009, for a four-week run at the Canon Theatre.

Seana Takes Stratford to San Francisco

"The Stratford Shakespeare Festival will visit San Francisco in 2010. Its 2009 production of Jean Racine's Phèdre will feature Stratford veteran Seana McKenna in the title role, and move to the non-profit American Conservatory Theater (ACT) after it completes it run in Stratford.
The French classic is slated to be directed by ACT artistic director Carey Perloff in a new adaptation by playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker."
Seana McKenna is in the current season as Andromache in The Trojan Women and Queen Isabella in Fuente Ovejuna.

Stratford Credits in 2008-9 CanStage Season

"Donna Feore, the director who brought critically acclaimed shows such as Oklahoma! and Oliver! to the stage in Stratford, will helm the Canadian Stage production of It's a Wonderful Life next November.
"Feore, a 16-year veteran of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, will be making her CanStage debut with It's a Wonderful Life, a stage adaptation of Frank Capra's popular film.
"CanStage announced Feore as director of the play, part of the 2008-2009 season, on Tuesday.
"It also announced Seana McKenna will star in Doubt, the New York hit and Pulitzer Prize winner that is one of the high points of CanStage's next season.
"Marti Maraden, former co-artistic director at Stratford, has previously been announced as director of Doubt, which is about suspected sexual abuse at a Catholic school.
"McKenna played in the Canadian Stage production The Clean House this spring and has been seen in Toronto in Lucy, Boy Gets Girl and Wit.
"She won Dora Awards for Orpheus Descending and Saint Joan, and a Genie for film The Hanging Garden.
"She is currently appearing in the Stratford Festival productions The Trojan Women and Fuente Ovejuna."
